Your Tour Guide will introduce you to Carlisle Luguvalium, the Stanegate and the Wall Fort Uxellodunum as you leave the city. The tour continues through the north Cumbrian landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes some wonderful scenery along the route of Hadrian’s Wall such as Lanercost Priory and Birdoswald Fort. The tour includes a 1 hour guided walk along the National Trail; voted the best experience of the tour by passengers in previous years. Moderate fitness along with sensible walking shoes/boots and waterproof clothing are essential. Or you can chose to visit Birdoswald Fort or to enjoy a tea break before the coach transfers you to rejoin the group in Gilsland. This year we have increased the route by 10 miles to give you close up views of the Vallum and for the first time we will continue to Brocolitia to discover the remains of a Mithraic Temple. Finally, for a fantastic finish to our Hadrian’s Wall Guided Tour experience, entry is included to the award winning Vindolanda Fort and Museum where a new Gallery opens this year and exciting excavations are currently taking place.
Top experiences say our passengers:
- The guided walk alongside the Wall remains.
- Vindolanda Fort, Museum and excavations.
- The inspirational commentary by our Tour Guide.
New this year:
- We have added ten extra miles to view the Vallum and Brocolitia Mithraic Temple.
- New Wooden Underworld Gallery opens at Vindolanda.
