47 Years Welcoming Visitors to Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site
For 47 years, we have been guiding visitors to Hadrian’s Wall, and for 41 of those years we have proudly offered fully guided coach tours. In recent times, it has become increasingly difficult to continue operating as a local bus service now runs several daily journeys from Carlisle to Greenhead. While convenient, these services do not offer the guided commentary that has always been at the heart of our tours.
To mark our 47th year, we are delighted to offer a special Celebratory Coach Tour.
We are currently planning a tour on 14th September, as several people have already expressed interest in this date. If you would like to join us on a different day, please register your interest below — if there is enough demand, we would be very happy to arrange additional tours.
This celebration is not only about the journeys themselves, but also about the many hundreds of wonderful people we have had the pleasure of meeting over the years — both on our coach tours and while organising walks along the Hadrian’s Wall Path. We are equally grateful to the exceptional tour guides who have worked with us, and to the dedicated coach operators and drivers who have helped make each trip so memorable.
Tour Details
Hear about Carlisle Luguvalium, the Wall fort Uxcellodunum then, off to visit our fabulous Wall as you tour the north Cumbrian landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoy wonderful scenery along the Wall route.
The tour includes a 1-hour guided walk along a Roman mile from Birdoswald Fort to Gilsland alongside Wall remains, hearing why and how the Wall was built, or stay with the coach and visit the Fort or enjoy a tea break before re-joining the group in Gilsland.
On to enjoy the Roman Army Museum audio visual presentations and finally, for a fantastic conclusion of our Hadrian’s Wall Guided Coach Tour experience, entry is included to the award winning Vindolanda Fort and Museums and where exciting archaeological excavations are currently taking place.

- Moderate fitness, sensible walking boots/shoes and warm, shower proof clothing are essential for the guided walk. It includes walking down a short steep stretch and a climb of a good many steps.
- Refreshments are available at the Roman Army Museum & Vindolanda Fort and Museum.
- Picnic tables outside offer space to enjoy a packed lunch. This gives you more time to explore.
- We regret we are not able to welcome dogs on the coach (ex. guide-dogs)
