Tour Details
Join our tour exploring both Citadel Towers in Carlisle. See the remains of the original Citadel built in 1541 on the orders of Henry VIII. Hear about the history of the site from a gate in the 12th century Norman city walls to the Citadel built on the orders of Henry VIII, the 19th century City Goal and the Crown Court in 1822. You will visit the Tudor Gun-ports, the Nisi Prius Court Room, the Grand Jury Room, and the former Crown Court.
The Citadel is not a museum, it is a fantastic Grade 1 Listed building, now empty, but with some wonderful stories to tell.
